In writer-director Emilio Estevez’ second feature film, a group of homeless people in dire need of shelter during a deadly winter cold snap stage an occupation in downtown Cincinnati . The Public is a tragi-comic story revolving around some of our nation’s most challenging issues, including homelessness, mental illness, polarized government, and slanted news coverage, set inside one of the last bastions of democracy-in-action: the public library.

Date:  Wednesday, November 13  Time: 7pm
Location:  Bow Tie Cinemas Criterion 11 Theater  Tickets: $20
Additional donations are welcome (processing fee coverage: $1.09). Screening coincides with Homeless Awareness Month and the first night of the 2019 New York Library Association Conference in Saratoga Springs.

Code Blue is a program of Shelters of Saratoga which provides low-barrier emergency shelter from November 15-April 1, welcoming all homeless individuals without restrictions or qualifications, providing shelter beds and dinner for adults.

The Friends of Saratoga Springs Public Library works to benefit our library, its patrons, local authors and the broader community of Saratoga Springs.
